"Test and retest" is the creed at Monarch. To achieve the utmost degree of certainty, Monarch has invested in systems and expertise to examine every component of a motor or generator. To return equipment to service without rigorous testing is beyond reason, and Monarch, if anything, is overly cautious.

This approach is particularly pivotal in preventative maintenance where, after the expense of shutdown, one must know how good equipment is or isn't. Monarch offers before and after on-site testing, including spectrum analysis for rotating equipment, the latter a test benefit few service centers offer. The following summarizes significant test equipment in Monarch's arsenal.

  • Lexseco Core loss tester, Model 3000A, up to 300kVA, with loop testing for stator cores up to 20,000hp. If requested, a core loss report accompanies each job
  • Full-load testing up to 9000hp and 13.8kVA on a Phenix MTS1500S-750 motor test stand which joins an American high voltage MTS750SCR-200D stand. Eight taps: 0-480 volts and 0-13,800 volts; armature supply: 0-750 volt; and shunt field, series field, and synchronous field switch. If requested, computer print outs with performance ratings accompany the job.
  • 240sqft machined bed plate, grouted to an isolation base 12ft deep, eliminating all outside factors during vibration testing
  • Hypot and PJ/Baker surge testing, including a Phenix AC Hypot station, model 6T S40-00, 40kV 200kVA AC 40kV at 5amps - 1 hour at 200kVA. Complete test capability from 0-25,000hp.
  • Both fixed and portable computerized balancing machines, the fixed with a 20,000lb capacity. Monarch additionally has a 50,000lb capacity source nearby.
  • Two CSI 2120 dual Vibration Analyzers, with Master Trend, for shop and on-site diagnosis, redesign, upgrades, testing and installation.
  • EL CID, fast and cost-effective, accurately and quickly analyzes statorcores on-site or in-shop. It detects breakdowns in core iron and insulations
between stator core laminations, producing a permanent record for analysis and trending.
